In the event that you need to record talent remotely, Dick and Roger's offers ISDN, or phone patch, recording. We also maintain a large and progressive library of stock music and sound effects that may be licensed for use anywhere in the world.

 

Dick Abbott

Dick Abbott began his recording career at Vancouver's CKNW radio in 1951.

During his tenure at the station, CKNW formed a business partnership with Griffiths, Gibson & Ramsay Productions (GGRP). In the 1970's Dick joined the GGRP business venture at Little Mountain Sound (LMS) as Production Manager of CKNW's Western Productions, their internal production company.

While at LMS Dick began to work with Roger Monk, the studio's Chief Engineer.

CKNW became sole owners of LMS in 1981. Dick moved into the role of CKNW's Production Supervisor as well as helping engineer the commercial side of LMS.

In 1990 Dick joined Roger when he built Dick & Roger's Sound Studios.

Mr. Abbott was the recipient of numerous IBA, Mobius, Clio, Lotus, & Golden Quill awards. He has worked on campaigns for major clients such as British Airways, CP Air, Chevron, Buick, Pontiac & Ford Motor Companies, Eastman Kodak as well as Coca-Cola, just to name a few.

Dick has worked on hundreds of multi-media shows, including numerous Pavilions during Expo 86; Canada's Pavilion & The Yukon Pavilion & the Panama Pavilion in Spain. Engineered and mixed "The Legends of Hockey" and "The Legends of Hockey - The Second Season", which was the Wayne Gretzky vignette and display for the Hockey Hall of Fame for TSN.

Dick has also enjoyed working for many years with Envisioning & Storytelling and the many multi-image shows they have produced such as their work with Intrawest.

After 47 years in radio Dick retired from CKNW in 1998. He continued working for another eight years with Dick & Roger's until August 2006 and is now fully retired.
